Our new self-ligating braces will make your orthodontic treatment a breeze.

Orthodontics is the dental field that specializes in moving teeth in order to align them and achieve a correct bite and mouth function. When someone wants to start an orthodontic treatment, he or she will be given the option of using braces or Invisalign. There are two types of braces: Conventional braces (with elastics) and Self-ligating braces (without elastics).

Conventional braces consist of attaching on each tooth a metallic brace and around it an elastic or rubber band that will hold on to an archwire. The elastic band will stabilize the archwire in its position and it will do the necessary dental movements. Disadvantages in this system are: dental movements are more traumatic, elastic bands lose strength in approximately 2 weeks which slow down the process, and elastic bands tend to rupture or stain if they’re not replaced frequently.

With Self-ligating braces you won’t have to deal with those problems anymore. You won’t have to go to the dentist’s office to replace your elastics because these braces do not require them. Self-ligating braces consist of attaching on each tooth a metallic brace, each brace has a slot that opens and closes where the archwire will be placed. The brace itself will hold the archwire in its position and will do the necessary dental movements. These movements are softer, a lot more accurate, and constant. Meaning that they won’t lose strength like the conventional braces. Self-ligating braces do not stain with food and beverages, and are more comfortable por patients, also they require less dental appointments to complete an orthodontic treatment.

There are also aesthetic self-ligating braces, where the brace itself has a similar color to your natural teeth. With aesthetic self-ligating braces your orthodontic treatment will be discrete and pleasing to the eye.

Put painful elastics on braces in the past, make an appointment at Cabdental for an evaluation on self-ligating braces.
